Welcome to Finding Words. I am Lisa Hill, a fully qualified Psychodynamic Counsellor, having studied under the British Psychoanalytic Council. I am also a registered BACP member and maintain my practice standards under their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
Trust and support are the fundamental aspects of the relationship between counsellor and client. I qualified in 2023 with a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and have been working with clients in a trainee and qualified capacity since 2021 via Gloucestershire Counselling Services in mental health issues and personal problems.
I am also a writer, author and a member of Lapidus International, which advocates for writing for wellbeing. I offer a creative and non-invasive approach to therapy using writing as a safe container and tool to access unconscious thoughts and feelings, so we can better understand ourselves and our relationships. For anyone who fears opening up to another individual, writing and dream work can help bridge the gap transitioning into talking therapy.
I work open-endedly with clients and offer sessions in-person at my Cheltenham-based practice rooms, on-line or via telephone. I also work more briefly over a period from 6 weeks to 3 months, using a solution-focused therapeutic approach, so you can resolve difficulties to move forward from a current crisis. It’s a privilege to share a client’s journey and see them develop a deeper understanding which empowers new-found confidence and personal growth.
Preverbal childhood trauma which often presents as unconscious knowing or feelings which leave you confused about yourself, but you cannot understand.
Fear of abandonment (or a feeling/ fear of being left) which might mean you feel you are not being boundaried enough in your relationships, you stay in relationships even when you feel you want to leave, or you leave because you worry the other person might leave you.
